Indian Independence
Brief Summary
On 15th August 1947, India gained independence from the British. India was ruled by the British for almost a century. It was called the British Raj (1857–1947). The British started trading spices with the Indians and slowly entered India and started colonising by making allies. Through years many Indians tried to go against the British but they ended up getting killed. After almost a century Gandhi and Nehru fought for their country’s freedom and gained it in the year 1947. It is said that the British escaped from India in the midnight on 14 August 1947. During these years, countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh were divided from India.
